Musicians
Musical Director - Dr. Kenneth Laudermilch
Dr. Kenneth Laudermilch was
appointed Musical Director of the New Holland Band in May of 2005. He
has been a faculty member in the School of Music at West Chester
University since 1968, As Professor of Instrumental Music at WCU he
serves as the Director of the Wind Ensemble and Chamber Winds and as
Director of the Summer Elementary, Junior High and High School Music
Workshops and Camps.
For twenty-five years he
performed as Principal Trumpet of the Delaware Symphony Orchestra and as
Substitute Trumpet with the Philadelphia Orchestra. He is currently the
Principal Trumpet with the Westminster Brass, a Philadelphia based brass
quintet which has performed in over fifty cities throughout the United
States over the past thirty years. During the past ten years he has
performed as Cornet Soloist in Residence with the New Holland Band.
Dr. Laudermilch holds a BS
degree in Music Education from Lebanon Valley College, a MM in
Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music and a DMA from
the Catholic University of America. He resides in New Holland with his
wife, Nancy, and their son, Keith. His firm belief is that music is a
gift to be used sometimes for the shear beauty it affords, most often to
console, uplift and encourage the human spirit, and ultimately to bring
glory to God.
Assistant Musical Director - Robert A. Shaubach
Robert Shaubach began
performing with the New Holland Band as a clarinetist in 1986. After
graduating from Pequea Valley High School in 1988, he earned a Bachelor
of Science in Music Education from Millersville University of
Pennsylvania. While at Millersville, Mr. Shaubach studied clarinet with
Mrs. Janine Thomas and Mr. John Colangelo and conducting with Mr. Walter
Blackburn. As a senior, Rob was awarded the Music Department Faculty
Award as well as the Louis Vyner Performance Award. He has done
postgraduate studies at West Chester University of Pennsylvania,
Elizabethown College, and the University of the Arts.
Mr. Shaubach began his
education career as a music teacher in the Manheim Township School
District where he served as an elementary instrumental instructor,
director of the high school orchestra and, later, the high school band.
In 2001, after nine years at Manheim Township, he became a teacher of
instrumental music in the Lampeter-Strasburg School District, where he
has served as Director of High School Bands and currently holds the
position of elementary band instructor.
As an active freelance musician
in the Lancaster area, Mr. Shaubach performs with Allegro, the
Chamber Orchestra of Lancaster and as a woodwind musician in musical
theater productions at the Dutch Apple Dinner Theater and the Fulton
Opera House. As a member of the PMEA and local musical education
associations, Rob has served as treasurer of the Lancaster-Lebanon Music
Educators Association. He currently serves as Vice-President of Local
294, American Federation of Musicians.
